The lower the mass of an animal, the better. However, the high-weight animals don't cost you points, whereas some of the 0-weight ones cost you 2 points, and pandas are -4. Keep a lookout for matching animals, as the extra turn is very useful. The ferry completion reward is especially powerful, and can entirely change the balance of the game.
