You are the head of an ancient family of artisans, carrying on the ancient traditions of the *world-famous Jemaa el-Fna market square* in Marrakech, Morocco!
[green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerIn [red]*Morocco*[/red], players will use information cubes to place workers into market stalls. These workers will secure juice sellers and control of the stalls themselves, both of which grant victory points.
When there are only *five unclaimed stalls* left in the market, the game will end, and [blue]*whoever has the most points wins!*[/blue]2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerEach round is divided into two phases: [red]*Scout Stalls*[/red] and [blue]*Assign Workers.*[/blue]
At the beginning of the [red]Scout Stalls phase,[/red] [green]this die[/green] will be rolled...
- twice (2 players)
- once (3 players)
- not at all (4 players)
All players will get cubes of whatever colors are rolled.3d6face1000d6face1 8
NekonyancerIn this case, we rolled a question mark, so players can choose what color they get.
*Click on "Brown Cube" at the top!*1d6face1626220e3c722e10
NekonyancerNow it's time for the real scouting part. This rooftop offers a great view of the marketplace below! On our turn, we will move the *[blue]yellow pawn[/blue]* to one of the *[green]five vantage points[/green]* on the rooftop, gaining information (cubes) about what areas of the market seem to have the most traffic!1rooftop_pawn626220efb2ec400cell_rp_1 8 cell_rp_2 8 cell_rp_3 8 cell_rp_4 8 cell_rp_5 8 rooftop_pawn 7
NekonyancerWhen we do, we will gain *two* information cubes, according to the colors *on either side* of the space we chose. Our opponents would then get *one* information cube matching the space we selected.2cell_rp_3626220efb2ec400cell_rp_1 8 cell_rp_2 8 rooftop_pawn 7 cell_rp_3 8 cell_rp_4 8 cell_rp_5 8
NekonyancerFor example, if we place the pawn *here,* we will get [red]a green cube and a brown cube,[/red] matching the colors of the adjacent spots. Our opponents will get a black cube, matching the spot we picked.
Let's do it! *Click on the space indicated. Then click on "Scout Stalls" at the top!*3cell_st_2_3_1626220efb2ec411cell_rp_1 6 cell_rp_2 16 cell_rp_3 6
NekonyancerOur opponent chose [blue]a spot[/blue] that granted them a purple cube and a green cube. It gave us an orange cube.1cell_st_1_3_1626221566bfbc01cell_rp_5 7
NekonyancerThat's the end of the Scout Stalls phase. Everyone got *[red]a total of five cubes,[/red]* which you can see in your inventory.2piece_CW_11941354_91626221566bfbc00piece_CW_11941354_91 1 piece_CR_11941354_78 1 piece_CG_11941354_27 1 piece_CW_11941354_86 1 piece_CR_11941354_65 1 piece_CG_92143487_30 1 piece_CR_92143487_66 1 piece_CK_92143487_57 1 piece_CB_92143487_20 1 piece_CG_92143487_36 1
NekonyancerNext is the [blue]*Assign Workers phase!*[/blue]
Each player will use their cubes to place two workers into the market stalls. The kinds of cubes you need is determined by the *row* and *column* the stall is in.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626221566bfbc00
NekonyancerFor example, to place an assistant in [red]*this stall,[/red]* we will need a *brown* cube (matching the row) and a *green* cube (matching the column).4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626221566bfbc00cube_21_1_6 2 cube_82_6_1 2 cell_st_1_3_4 15 cell_st_1_5_4 15 cell_st_3_1_3 14 cell_st_5_1_3 14 cell_st2_1_1 6
NekonyancerLet's try it! :)
*1) [red]Select a worker in your inventory.*[/red] You should see some of the stalls light up, showing what stalls you can place in with the cubes in your inventory.
*2) Click on the bottom-right corner of the top-left stall.* BGA will automatically select the correct cubes.
*3) Click on "Assign Worker" at the top!*5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626221566bfbc10assign 19 cell_st_1_1_4 18 piece_A_11941354_1 1
Nekonyancer*Nice job!*
Note the tile near our worker. *[blue]These tiles are juice sellers.*[/blue]
When [red]all 4 slots in the stall[/red] are occupied, each worker will claim the nearby juice seller tile, which is worth VP equal to the number shown. This one is worth 4 points!1js_33_2_26262217c48bac00js_33_2_2 2 cell_st_1_1_1 1 cell_st_1_1_2 1 cell_st_1_1_3 1
NekonyancerIn addition, whenever a stall is completely filled up, each person with a worker in it will get a reward. Whoever has *the most workers in the stall* gets the biggest reward!
(More on these rewards later.)2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6262217c48bac00
NekonyancerNext, let's learn about special assistants. You have
[red]*two cousin tokens[/red]* and *[blue]two tourists[/blue]* in your inventory.
Playing a special assistant costs the same as a normal one - 2 cubes of the row's and column's colors - *PLUS 1 cube of any color.*1main_board_T_11941354626221b90cda300piece_C_11941354_1 1 piece_C_11941354_2 1 piece_T_11941354_1 2 piece_T_11941354_2 2
Nekonyancer[blue]*Tourists*[/blue] count as a normal workers, but when a stall a tourist is in is completed, the tourist immediately adds a worker to an adjacent stall.
*[red]Cousins[/red]* allow you to place two workers at the same time, as long as they are *directly across a street from each other.*2piece_T_11941354_2626221b90cda300
NekonyancerIt would be great if we could place a worker in [red]*this stall*[/red] to compete with our opponent, but that would cost [blue]a purple and an orange cube.[/blue]
We have two oranges and a brown. No purple!3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626221b90cda300cube_61_4_6 2 cube_2_6_3 2 cell_st_4_5_1 15 cell_st_5_3_4 14 cell_st2_4_3 6
NekonyancerBut we can always rely on family to help out in a pinch!
*1. Select the first cousin tile in your inventory.*
*2. Select the indicated stall.*
*3. Select the indicated stall.*
*4. Select the brown cube in your inventory* (the oranges were selected automatically).
*5. Click "Assign Worker" at the top!*4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626221b90cda310cell_st_4_3_4 19 cell_st_4_4_2 18 piece_C_11941354_1 17 piece_CW_11941354_86 20
Nekonyancer[blue]*Nice work![/blue]* We used two orange cubes to [red]*place in this nearby stall*[/red] and added a third cube of any color to use a cousin tile, letting us place another worker just across the street, which was where we really wanted to go!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626221dee1a0400cell_st2_4_4 6
NekonyancerEach player has placed two workers now (though we sorta placed three), so that's the end of the first round!
We'll now enter the second round, starting with the Scout Stalls phase!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626221f6576a500
NekonyancerLet's focus on completing [red]the stall our cousin is in![/red] We're going to need orange and purple, and we already have an orange.
*Move the yellow pawn here.* That will get us a purple.1cell_rp_3626222313406c10cell_rp_3 11 cell_st2_4_3 6
Nekonyancer[blue]*Let's place a tourist now!*[/blue]
Don't ask me why the tourist meeple looks like a sasquatch. I dunno. Maybe these tourists are too lazy to shave while on vacation.1piece_T_11941354_2626222525fca000piece_T_11941354_2 2
Nekonyancer*1) Select the tourist.*
*2) Select the indicated stall.*
*3) Select the green cube.*
*4) Click "Assign Worker" at the top.*2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626222525fca010assign 20 cell_st_4_3_3 18 piece_T_11941354_2 17 piece_CG_11941354_35 3
NekonyancerOur opponent hasn't been using his special workers, so he has some cubes leftover. However, all players must discard down to *1* cube at the end of each Assign Workers phase! [red]*Too bad for him!*[/red] :)1piece_CB_92143487_106262229f5fd0600piece_CB_92143487_10 2 piece_CG_92143487_40 2
NekonyancerWe're going to skip ahead a little bit now...2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment6262229f5fd0600
NekonyancerOkay. Time to finally finish *[red]this stall![/red]* Use the leftmost worker. You remember how to do it, right? Well, *go ahead!*1cell_st2_4_36262241858eb010cell_st2_4_3 6 piece_A_11941354_7 12
NekonyancerA few things happened when the stall finished!
First of all, *we had the majority in this stall,* so we got 5 points and put down one of our family's *[red]market tiles![/red]*
Our opponent got lesser rewards (more on this later). 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62622421ec67700tempstall 6
NekonyancerSecond, all the workers (except the Tourist) were picked up, along with their *[blue]respective juice seller tokens.*[/blue]
Note that *[red]our scores on the score track[/red]* have been adjusted accordingly.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62622421ec67700cell_juice_4_3 2 cell_juice_5_3 2 cell_juice_5_4 2 scorer_92143487 1 scorer_11941354 1
NekonyancerThird, *we now have to orient the family tile in a direction.* This stall is now so popular that excess foot traffic is *overflowing* in that direction.
*[blue]Orienting does two things:*[/blue]
*1.* Any tourists on the completed stall move to whatever stall is affected by the overflow. They somehow transform into normal workers along the way.
I dunno why. Maybe they lost their cameras.3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62622421ec67700
Nekonyancer*2.* Any stall affected by overflow traffic will need *one fewer worker* to be completed!
[green][tip] These overflow effects stack, so a stall can be affected by multiple overflows and complete even quicker![/green]4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62622421ec67700
NekonyancerLet's orient our family tile south.
*Click on "Orient South" at the top! Then click on "Confirm Orientation!"*5tempstall62622421ec67710
NekonyancerNow our tourist has to move.
We can choose which slot he'll go to, but the tutorial is buggy here, so just click continue.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626224356ce7300
NekonyancerWow! The *tourist* and the *overflow* from the previous stall caused a cascading effect, so this stall is now complete as well!
We had the majority again, so we got another 5 points and have to orient a new family tile.
[green][tip] Note that you cannot orient it north because the stall to the north is already complete.[/green]
*Click on "Orient West" at the top! Then confirm!*1tempstall6262244398c8110tempstall 6
NekonyancerWe're off to a great start. In addition to the points we already got for completing the stalls, [red]*our largest group of connected family tiles will give us 3 points per tile*[/red] at the end of the game.
If the game somehow ended right now, these two connected family tiles would give us 6 points!1stall_closed_4_3626224515e3de00stall_closed_4_3 6 stall_closed_4_4 6
NekonyancerSo what about our opponent's rewards? He had a worker in each of those completed stalls.
The second place reward is 2 points, [blue]*1 gold coin,[/blue]* and [red]*1 bodyguard,[/red]* which you can see in our opponent's inventory.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626224515e3de00piece_B_92143487_1 1 piece_B_92143487_2 1 piece_G_92143487_1 2 piece_G_92143487_2 2
NekonyancerThose bodyguards came from this supply, which has two bodyguards per player.3cell_guard_2_1626224515e3de00cell_guard_2_1 2 cell_guard_2_2 2
NekonyancerBodyguards are special workers, but they only cost 2 cubes, just like a normal worker. When placed on a stall, they simply count as *two workers* instead of one!
Our opponent is going to place one *[red]up here, in the corner![/red]* Since it counts as two workers, it will complete the stall!4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626224515e3de00cell_st2_1_1 6
NekonyancerWe had a worker in that stall, so we got the second place prizes!1piece_G_11941354_16262248a1738e00piece_T_11941354_1 1 piece_G_11941354_1 1
NekonyancerNote that our opponent's used bodyguard was returned to the bodyguard supply. That means it can be claimed again as a second place stall completion reward.
!!! In contrast, you'll *never* get more [blue]tourists or cousins![/blue] You get two of each for the whole game! !!!2piece_board_B_92143487_26262248a1738e00piece_C_11941354_2 2 piece_T_11941354_1 2
NekonyancerThe last thing I have to explain is [red]*gold coins.*[/red]
Gold coins can be used to permanently swap the color requirements of two rows or two columns, but *NOT* one row and one column.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62622494b6ec000piece_G_11941354_1 1
NekonyancerLet's try it!
*1) Click on the green column cube.*
*2) Click on the black column cube.*
*3) Click on "Spend 1 gold" at the top!*3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment62622494b6ec010cube_21_1_6 17 cube_41_2_6 18
Nekonyancer[red]*Great job!*[/red] Swapping these requirements can sometimes screw up your opponents' plans.
By the way, each unused gold coin is worth *1 point* at the end of the game.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626224bd7988800
Nekonyancer*That's pretty much everything!*
Remember, the end of the game will trigger when *all but five stalls* are complete. Play will continue until that round is done, and then you'll move on to final scoring!2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626224bd7988800
Nekonyancer[blue]*Final scoring:[/blue]*
You have a running total of points, which includes:
*- stall completion rewards*
*- juice seller tiles*
You then get endgame points for:
*- extra gold coins* (1 each)
*- your largest connected group of family tiles* (3 each)
Whoever has the most points is the winner, with number of placed family tiles as the tiebreaker!3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626224bd7988800
Nekonyancer*[blue]Thank you for playing through this tutorial for Morocco!*[/blue]
If you have any comments or questions, don't hesitate to send me, *Nekonyancer*, a message!
Have fun! :D4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment626224bd7988800
