The cost of the patch (buttons & time) should remain visible when in play on the player's quilt.
I think it would make sense to have it there permanently, but if not possible for this implementation, it should at least remain visible until stitched/the end of the turn to make it easier when considering pieces to choose. -

As for continuing to display the cost of the patch permanently (i.e., even after confirmation of placement and ending one's turn), this should, at the very least, be an option for players—game-relevant information should never be permanently hidden from players.
